my friend, Nick's, dad died this morning. i found out at work and cried for him. i talked with his wife, nick's mom, and she was so encouraging. i don't understand it, but she was asking if i was okay, and saying that he was in a better place. i talked with nick later and he was so at peace too. and i just feel like nick's dad is the first person that i really loved that has died. i had a good friend, named Blake, that i grew up with die last fall from a drug overdose, but we had been out of touch. nick's dad loved me and always hugged me and asked how i was. he was a good man, nick's dad, and very wise. i remember waking up early on the morning of nick's sister's wedding and sitting with his dad on the front porch before anyone else was up. it was early and he was talking about life and how we live it and it was a beautiful morning... a beautiful moment in general. and Ni'ger was married that day and we hung out and it was good.
but most of all, nick's dad, Guy, loved God. and i mean, Guy loved God! he's just had cancer for a long time, and decided to stop chemo earlier this year because it was hurting more than helping. (sidenote: my mom is still fighting cancer and is doing the chemo thing.) and all through his sickness, Mr. Jenkins encouraged those around him and ministered to his family and those near him. but today Mr. Jenkins is with God finally. after years of fighting cancer, Guy is dancing.

Well, you know that he is in a better place and I'm glad you got to know him. It is great that you saw his love for God and you loved Guy. This is a situation that you can learn a lot from. A man loved God eventhough he was very sick. He didn't blame God but he grew in his understanding of God. Second of all you saw his family have a peace about Guy's death. They continued to believe in God's plan for their lives. That included loosing Guy.
The third part of this is that your mom is going through chemo. It is very likely that your mom will recover with no problem. Worrying about your mom doesn't help anything. God doesn't want you to worry. God has a plan for you, your family, and your mom. He is going to do what is best for you even if you don't agree with it. He will never give you more then you can handle. Trust him.
Jimmy, I am sorry for your loss and the loss of friends father. I am encouraged by Guy's life, his eternal perspective, his constant focus on the truth of Jesus Christ, even through his suffering. He is an example for us to follow, and a reminder to us of the great reward.
"Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise." Luke 23:43
